100% of your support for United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) goes directly to fund critical programs and urgent services—not costly overhead. This is made possible by a trust for UWRI that covers their fundraising and administrative costs.

What We're Up Against

For families living paycheck to paycheck, even a single unexpected expense can jeopardize rent -- and limited time, money, and access often prevent their children from accessing vital learning beyond the classroom.

$23 million

was returned back to Rhode Islanders via VITA/free tax preparation

Nearly 213,000

calls and walk-ins for help were responded to through 211 and the Aging and Disability Resource Center

$13 million

was invested directly into local nonprofits through the Community Impact Fund

Ways to Give

  1. Donate through the United Way of Rhode Island’s e-pledge site. You get the maximum flexibility when you donate this way. You can direct all - or a portion - of your donation to any non-profits in the United States. You can make a one-time or recurring donation in any amount via credit card, check or payroll deduction.
  2. Set up a recurring donation through payroll deduction during Open Enrollment*. As part of the Open Enrollment process, employees can establish a fixed pledge amount in increments of $10, $25, $50, $75, or $100 per month beginning in January 2026.
  3. Participate in special events organized by Brown Gives Campaign Leaders*. Campaign Leaders are volunteers in departments across campus who go the extra mile to boost donations through special events and donations can be made via our online payment system

* Funds raised via Open Enrollment and events organized by Campaign Leaders are directed toward the United Way’s mission of increasing equity and opportunities for all Rhode Islanders.

Please Note: Donations are post-tax; individuals may claim the deduction when tax returns are filed unless contributing to a department event.
