November Professional Development Updates

Connection and care are at the heart of a healthy, thriving workplace. When we take the time to listen, acknowledge one another, and offer support, even in small ways, we create environments where people feel valued, seen, and empowered to contribute their best. This month, Learning Development and Engagement (LDE) is highlighting resources designed to help you nurture these qualities in yourself and others.

From exploring psychological safety to building trust and fostering meaningful dialogue, the tools and ideas in this digest are meant to support reflection, collaboration, and everyday acts of care across our community.

LDE’s Quick Tip of the Month

Small acts of care and attention can have a big impact on connection and trust. This month, consider ways to intentionally nurture connection:

  • Check in personally: Ask a colleague how they’re doing—not just about work tasks, but how they’re feeling.
  • Share appreciation: Acknowledge someone’s contributions or efforts with a note, email, or verbal recognition.
  • Listen actively: When someone shares, give your full attention. Reflect back what you hear and show empathy.
  • Offer support: Even small gestures—like helping with a task or offering a resource—can signal care and build trust.
  • Create safe space for conversation: Encourage open dialogue in meetings or one-on-ones, letting people know their perspectives are valued.

These small moments of connection can ripple outward, strengthening relationships and fostering an environment where everyone feels supported.
