Staff Self-Evaluations
Tips and Best Practices
Use these strategies to prepare:
- Establish a Framework: At the start of each cycle, identify 3-5 high-level goals. This makes it easier to track your progress and stay focused on key priorities.
- Maintain Ongoing Documentation: Don't rely on memory alone. Keep a log throughout the year to note significant milestones, peer recognition and how you navigated specific challenges.
- Focus on Impact: When highlighting accomplishments, describe how your work contributed to your department's success or the University's mission.
- Identify Growth Areas: Be honest about where you want to go. Use this platform to request specific professional development or new project opportunities.
Completing Your Self-Evaluation
The self-evaluation task will launch directly to staff Workday inboxes on Friday, May 1.
- To Participate: Complete the form to highlight your skills, challenges and career aspirations. Your input will provide the foundation for your performance discussion with your manager.
- To Opt-Out: If you choose not to complete a self-evaluation, you must still open the task, enter “N/A” in the text box, and click Submit. This step is required to route the process to your manager so they can begin your formal peformance evaluation.
