Critical Illness and Accident Insurance
Two Types of Coverage
You may enroll in one or both of the following plans. Each is elected separately.
Provides a lump-sum payment if you or a covered dependent are diagnosed with a covered serious or life-threatening condition (such as cancer, heart attack or stroke).
Provides a cash benefit if you experience a covered accidental injury. Benefits are designed to help offset the costs of emergency care, hospital visits and recovery.
Eligibility and Enrollment
- Eligibility: Regular faculty and staff working 66% time or more are eligible to participate.
- When to Enroll: You may sign up during your initial hire period or during the annual Open Enrollment.
- Dropping Coverage: You may choose to drop this coverage at any time.
- Portability: If you leave Brown, you may be able to continue your coverage. For details, contact benefits_office@brown.edu.
