Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

Brown University provides basic life insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage at no cost to eligible employees. Coverage is administered through Lincoln Financial Group, and eligible employees are automatically enrolled.

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 1,300 hours per year are eligible for coverage. Additional, optional coverage is also available for purchase.

Brown University provides basic life insurance coverage up to $50,000, with the exact amount determined by employee group, base salary and date of hire.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides a benefit to you or your beneficiaries if death or serious injury occurs as the direct result of an accident.

Optional Coverage

Employees may choose to purchase additional protection through voluntary life insurance options.

Note: In some cases, Evidence of Insurability (EOI) may be required and must be approved by the carrier. Employees can complete this process online through MyLincolnPortal (company code: Brown). For rates, refer to Section 6 of the Decision Guide.
